So, why make a website dedicated to a game that is over two decades old and didn’t receive a great reception? Well…
I first played OverBlood 2 as a kid when it came out in the UK – around 2001. It was different and I really enjoyed playing, although I couldn’t progress past the first Episode in the game. I couldn’t find a walkthough anywhere to help – just a partially complete one started by a user online who apparently had a bugged copy of the game, which stopped prior to the part I was struggling with.
The game sat on my shelf for a few months until I had the idea to write my own walkthrough. After much perseverance I managed to complete the game, and following a couple more play-throughs I had a rough walkthrough to write up – but for some reason I never did.
I left an email address on various game forums for people to contact me if they had any questions. For a couple of years I would occasionally receive messages from players around the world wanting help with the game, while my notes sat in a cupboard.
Fast forward to mid 2017; I’m older and have less time for video games. One day I received an email (at my work address) with the subject “OverBlood 2”.
After an exchange of emails with an OverBlood 2 player from Austria, I learned there was still no walkthrough written in English for the game – just YouTube videos. I managed to dig out my old notes and decided it was finally time to replay the game and type up that walkthough, learning more about OverBlood 2 in the process from reading Japanese websites and importing stuff via proxy websites.
So here is the end result; a website dedicated to a game which most people never saw, and the ones that did mostly weren’t impressed with. As for me, I enjoyed OverBlood 2 for many reasons and just had fun building this site.
