“The Sequel Doomed to Obscurity” by Earlybird
While putting this site together, one of the many things I learned about OverBlood 2 prior to its release in Japan on July 23rd 1998 was that Riverhillsoft (creators of the game) had a booth at Tokyo Game Show’s 1997 Autumn event. Previously I came across a short snippet of footage from that event and posted it to this site’s accompanying YouTube channel.
More recently I learned that the game was shown off again at the TGS 1998 Spring event though a video posted online.
The video itself is a recap of titles shown during the event by a company called “The Absolute Game Tag Game Book Series”. I have no idea how the video was originally distributed, and (despite trying my best to find out) I know even less about how OverBlood 2 was showcased during the event – perhaps it was as part of a wider presentation, or maybe the full booth made a return.
I decided to condense the video down to show the OB2 content, and included the original intro and credits for some additional context – which can be viewed below. The voiceover appears to be in Mandarin.
